Gabriel,
an aspiring minimalist and former vegetarian, took ballet lessons, wrote
two musical comedies, designed ladies gowns for hobby, and started a collection
of Disney animation art prior to realizing that he was homosexual. Upon
arriving in New York, Gabriel originally wanted to get a job in the theater.
After finally landing a position selling group tickets for Annie Warbucks
he realized that he hated making cold calls.
He was reluctant to quit, howeverįthat is until he happened to catch the
movie Working Girl on television and was inspired by the "Who makes
it happen? I do. I make it happen" scene. Gabriel has uncommonly
soft hands and still harbors a grudge against his parents for not introducing
him to the music of Lena Horne at an earlier age.
Gabriel
has taped the Tony Awards every year since 1984 with the exception of
1990 (the year of Jerome Robbins' Broadway) which, according to him, wasn't
a very good year anyway.
