Katherine
earned the nickname "Lady Killer" prior to making her New York
theatrical debut at the Duplex as the voice for a lesbian phone sex hotline.
In actuality, the name originated during a school field trip to see Cats
at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts when Katherine trampled
an elderly woman in an attempt to get Betty Buckley's autograph.
Katherine,
a member of AFTRA, went to the same high school as Christopher Knight
who played Peter Brady in the hit TV series The Brady Bunch. As president
of the high school
drama club, Thespians, she tried in vain to have the school's Little Theater
renamed in his honor. Katherine's most embarrassing moment occurred two
years ago, at the Straw Hats, while auditioning for Summer Stock. Following
her heartfelt rendition of the ballad "There are Worse Things I Could
Do", one of the auditioners yelled back, "No there aren't!"
Shortly thereafter, Katherine fired her voice teacher.
Katherine's
idol growing up was Annette Charles who played Cha Cha in the movie Grease,
and later, after opening a dance studio in Encino, taught Katherine tap
and ballet. Katherine's video library includes Ms. Charles's entire cinematic
ouvre: Grease andáher only other performance committed to filmáMary Magdalene
in In Search of Historic Jesus.
